PROVENCE IN SEPTEMBER

PROVENCE
WINE, ART & LEISURE
SEP16 - SEP19

PROVENCE & COTE d’AZUR seems to be the essence of what we call the WINE CULTURE . It is not surprizing that such great artists like van Gogh, Matisse, Derain, Férnand Léger and many others who have spent most of their life and performed here their most famous works . Not to forget, that we may always taste great AOC Cotes de Provence wines, as viticulture traditions in Provence (over 3 000 years) have the longest duration amongst remaining French wine regions . It is not therefore surprizing, that we may find here such fascinating biodynamic winemakers and their vineyards, producing certified, natural (BIO) wines, combining it with art (music concerts, paintings & sculpture collections, jewellery reminding wine cellars etc.) !

The main task of this 4 days special wine tour is to effectively provide:

• Great wines tasting experience (wine tastings in four renowed wineries including BIO wines)
• Art experience (visits to impressionists museum, as well art galleries)
• Leisure time experience (National Park of Porquerolles Islands: ferry transfer, pic-nic lunch on the beach, biking, swimming, sunbathing, wine tasting)
• Great history experience (Ramantuelle, Grimaud, Château du Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Aix-en-Provence)

TENTATIVE DATES : SEP16/2010 UNTIL SEP19/2010

NOTE : dates, as well as program content may be subject to modifications, following participants suggestions .

Bordeaux and Bourgogne means - wines.
Provence means - holidays, fresh breeze of the sea,
cricets criceting, Van Gogh's colours, lavendas and herbs aromas. Means
seafood, fresh legumes et fruits, huile d'olives et l'ail.
Provence means as well medieval village, deeply hidden in the
mountains, with its traditional marché and boules players under century old plane-trees.
Not to forget a true romantic evening together with my sweetheart, in presence of a cool, young and fresh AOC Côtes de Provence, rosé.
On the beach of St Tropez, of course...

ALZACE is maybe the most beautiful Wine Tourism region in France.
It is regarded as well to be the oldest site to cultivate vineyards in France (since over 3 000 years).
Alzatian villages and their typical houses, surrounded by picturesques Vosges, are customarily covered with flowers and look more like a candy. While the wines (mostly whites), are regarded as the best in the world of their type (Riesling. Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, vendanges tardives, selection grains nobles).
Over the past 50 years, the Alsace Wine Route has contributed to the success of Alsace wines. Jura, not as popular as Alsace, apart of most beautiful scenery offers its absolute specialities and world's hits like Vin Jaune, Vin de Paille, as well as famous Comté hard cheese.

Traditional song of Alsace winemakers & growers:

Dieu n'a pas voulu,
que le noble se perde,
c'est pourquoi il ne nous donne que la vigne,
mais également la noble soif.

BOURGOGNE

Bourgogne, is the unique place all over the world where one may find at the same time & at the same place:

* greatest wines of the world
* greatest gastronomy of the world
* greatest historical monuments of our
contemporary, mediterranean civilization

As they say in Bourgogne:

bon appetit, et ... grand soif

In the magic world of wines, there are only two names which really counts.

These are: Bordeaux and Bourgogne

Both of them are in France, however they are totally different one from the other, not only because of their size (Bourgogne is much smaller), but as well following the fact that they are using totally different grapes for the wines production processes. In Burgundy these are pinot noir, for red wines and chardonnay for white wines, while all wines are mono-cépage.

CHAMPAGNE

Both, Champagne, as well as champagne are exciting, plenty of secrets and magic.

Apart of Les Maisons de Champagne like Moët Chandon, Veuve Clicquot, Tattinger etc., which practically monopolised the export market, one may find in this friendly and rustical Champagne something really exceptional.

These are almost 14 000 RM (Recoltant Manipulant). RM is an idependent winemaker (or rather champagnemaker) who is producing the wine following its family oldest rules and traditions. Usually these are small, family owned operations.

The real secret of Champagne is to meet these people, to have a chat, as well as a flûte d'amitié, in order to make best friends.

FRIULI VENEZIA GIULIA

Friuli Venezia Giuilia (FVG) is one of very rare Italian regions not yet overcrowded by tourist groups from all over the world.

Very unique region, known for the production of best, white wines of Italy, wonderful landscapes as well as centuries long SlowFood traditions. Not to forget amazing hospitality of the Friulians, who apart of the fact, that they like to write romantic poems, speak a different language from Italian.
